What strategies were used by Africans to become assimilated? What happened to the African assimilados after 1961, when the Portuguese assimilation policy ended? How did African &#8220;assimilados&#8221; participate in the decolonisation process and the building of African nations after independence? When and why were the memories and political uses of assimilation silenced or discussed in public debates?
