The script denotes Mendes Correia&#8217;s scientific interests and the way he sought to produce knowledge &#8211; establishing a network of contacts between international scientists and local informants. Such <em>modus operandi<\/em>, present in other colonizing countries, provide us with material to reflect how anthropology was articulated with the Portuguese colonial project, namely through the creation of scientific missions.
