No dia 18 de Outubro pr\u00f3ximo o historiador norte-americano Allen Isaacman ir\u00e1 apresentar no ICS-UL a sua pesquisa mais recente, num semin\u00e1rio intitulado: “Invisible Histories: Clandestine Migration from Mozambique to Zimbabwe 1900-2000”.
\nTrabalhando sobre a hist\u00f3ria de Mo\u00e7ambique, Isaacman \u00e9 um dos mais importantes investigadores do colonialismo portugu\u00eas nos s\u00e9culos XIX e XX. Ao longo da sua obra, parcialmente escrita em conjunto com Barbara Isaacman, Allen Isaacman oferece uma vis\u00e3o historiogr\u00e1fica fundadora sobre a sociedade mo\u00e7ambicana. Analisa as estruturas pol\u00edticas e sociais africanas, o processo de ocupa\u00e7\u00e3o colonial portuguesa, as principais caracter\u00edsticas do seu modelo colonizador e o modo como afetou a vida das popula\u00e7\u00f5es. O seu livro sobre a cultura for\u00e7ada do algod\u00e3o (Cotton is the Mother of Poverty: Peasants, Work and Rural Struggle in Colonial Mozambique 1938-1961<\/em>) \u00e9 um dos melhores exemplos deste trabalho historiogr\u00e1fico. Apoiante da luta pela liberta\u00e7\u00e3o do territ\u00f3rio, Issacman envolveu-se pessoalmente na forma\u00e7\u00e3o da nova na\u00e7\u00e3o mo\u00e7ambicana.<\/p>\n
