Kevin Carreira Soares (PIUDHist/ICS-UL) presented the paper “La creación de los obispados y la territorialización de los imperios ibéricos en Asia. Siglos XVI y XVII”, at the Workshop “Conflictos y resistencias: el mundo atlántico como escenario de negociación del poder económico, político y social, siglos XVI-XIX”, which took place at the Central Library of the Universidad Nacional del Centro de la Provincia de Buenos Aires (UNICEM), on 17 and 18 August 2023, in Tandil, Argentina.
This conference is part of the activities developed by members of the Research Group Impérios, Colonialismo e Sociedades Pós-Coloniais of the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Lisbon, who are on a Research Exchange period at the Universidad Nacional de La Plata in Argentina. For around 30 days, they will take part in various activities in Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil, in close cooperation with the local academic community.
Participating in the activities are Ângela Barreto Xavier (ICS-UL), Isabel Corrêa da Silva (ICS-UL), Joana Fraga (ICS-UL), Kevin Carreira Soares (PIUDHist/ICS-UL), e Nuno Gonçalo Monteiro (ICS-UL).
These activities take place within the framework of the project Rebellion and Resistance in the Iberian Empires, 16th-19th centuries, which has received funding from the European Union, through the Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Grant Agreement No 778076. The ICS team is led by Ângela Barreto Xavier (ICS-UL).
