On August 25, 2023, Isabel Corrêa da Silva (ICS-UL), Joana Fraga (ICS-UL), Kevin Carreira Soares (PIUDHist/ICS-UL) interacted with around a hundred students from the Liceo Víctor Mercante and the Bachillerato de Bellas Artes in the city of La Plata, Argentina. For around two hours, students aged between 14 and 17 participated in the debate of ideas related to episodes of resistance in the Iberian empires between the 16th and 19th centuries and how these legacies are still present today. The discussion was based on the recently published book Religião e mulheres. Resistências nos Impérios Ibéricos, 1500-1850.
These presentations are part of the activities developed by members of the Research Group Impérios, Colonialismo e Sociedades Pós-Coloniais of the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Lisbon, who are on a Research Exchange period at the Universidad Nacional de La Plata in Argentina. For around 30 days, they will take part in various activities in Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil, in close cooperation with the local academic community.

These activities take place within the framework of the project Rebellion and Resistance in the Iberian Empires, 16th-19th centuries, which has received funding from the European Union, through the Horizon 2020 research and innovation program under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Grant Agreement No 778076.
