The conference Slave Subjectivities in the Iberian World (15th-20th centuries) will be held in ICS – University of Lisbon on July 2-4. This conference aims at discussing ways of studying slave experiences in the Iberian world, and encourages a comparative examination of experiences of the enslaved in relation to diverse places and historical periods. The presentations are based on empirical materials, reflecting, at the same time, conceptually and analytically, the experiences and subjectivities of the enslaved people related to the following aspects:
1) The theoretical and methodological conditions for the study of slave subjectivities in the Iberian worlds.
2) The different dimensions of slave subjectivities.
